Who can use Meals on Wheels?

-
are an older person who needs some extra support at home
-
have a disability and receive support through the NDIS
-
are recovering from an illness, injury or hospital stay
-
are having difficulty preparing meals yourself

You don't have to work out everything on your own. If you're unsure whether Meals on Wheels is right for you, give us a call and we can talk through your options.
How much do meals cost?
The cost of your meals will depend on your circumstances and the type of support you receive.
Many people are able to access subsidised meals through government-funded programs, helping make nutritious meals more affordable.
My Aged Care
If you are aged 65 or over, you may be eligible for assistance through My Aged Care.
Meals may be provided through programs such as:
Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
CHSP provides support to help older people remain living independently at home. If you are eligible, government funding helps reduce the cost of your meals, with a small contribution from you.
Support at Home
If you receive a Support at Home package (previously known as a Home Care Package), your package may be able to help cover the cost of meals and meal delivery.
You can choose Gympie Meals on Wheels as your meal provider.
To find out if you are eligible, contact My Aged Care or speak with your care provider.
NDIS
If you are an NDIS participant, you may be able to use your NDIS funding to receive meal services.
You can choose Gympie Meals on Wheels as your meal provider if our service meets your plan requirements.
For more information, speak with your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager or NDIS contact.
