Join Meals on Wheels Gympie's Schools Volunteering Program and make a real difference in your community. Our program offers students an invaluable opportunity to engage in community service while enhancing their knowledge, skills, and confidence.

Program Details

• Eligibility: Students must be in Year 9 or above.

• Group Size: Maximum of 10 students accompanied by one teacher.

• Booking: Requests must be made by school staff.

How It Works

Students will gain hands-on experience by learning about the essential items required to care for those who rely on our services and how our commercial kitchen operates. This unique opportunity will not only provide practical skills but also foster a sense of community responsibility.

 

A small fee is charged to cover our costs, which allows us to provide trained staff who will guide students throughout the day. The remaining funds directly support our essential work, ensuring we can continue to provide critical support to the Gympie community.

• Preparing and packaging meals

• Learning kitchen safety and hygiene practices

• Understanding the logistics of meal delivery

• Engaging with staff and clients to gain insights into community needs
